We have started a new writing initiative in our school this half term, Talk For Write.
We have used our new text, The Nowhere Emporium, to inspire our writing.
We have experimented with: time adverbials, similes, relative clauses, semi colons, alliteration, parenthesis and repetition for effect.
This afternoon we made three different Maya hot chocolate recipes. We used cacoa powder and chilli powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey. Some recipes were more delicious than others!
Our class were the choir for today’s First Holy Communion celebration. They all sang beautifully.
Today, we listened to a Mayan folk tale called, The Chocolate Tree. It featured the Chichen Itza temple. We wrote our own chocolate tree stories and made our own Chichen Itza temples.
Well done to all of the children in Year 5 for your wonderful Passion Play performance in church this morning. You made your families and your school so proud.
Sharon (a parent from our class) came in to explain how she uses maths in her job, working for Survitec, a company that supplies jackets and equipment for the army! Being able to measure accurately is so important, as they produce life-saving equipment.
Annie, from Faith For Change, worked with us today and taught us about plants and seeds. We explored different plants and their seeds, linking different foods to the Maya civilisation.
